One of the most frustrating barriers to good problem solving, or good proposal writing, is the difficulty in communicating in such a way that our readers or listeners understand what we’re saying exactly the way we want it understood.  We have a particularly difficult time when we are dealing with abstract concepts…those concepts that do not have a physical presence that can be directly investigated using empirical (physical) means.

In an attempt to help move us all in the direction of better communication capability, please write a post in which you define what you mean by the word “health”, using both a conceptual definition of the term and an operational definition.  Then, tell us what you had to do in order to come up with definitions that people could understand with little room of error.
