This Paper contains TWO PARTS. Please complete it divided by two parts as follows. Please note that Part 1 should be no longer than the equivalent of one double spaced page. Please produce Part 2 no more than two pages including the rough architecture sketch.
Part 1:
Understanding the Business Problem
The broader signature assessment assignment calls for the development of an analytics program as a change agent in a new business venture. In this assignment, you will be introduced to the first phase of that assessment and the associated analytics program, which requires you to establish a clear understanding of the business problem you wish to address. You are required to provide an overview of the program objectives and requirements from a business perspective. You will then connect this knowledge to a high-level data mining problem definition.
To complete this assignment please:
- Provide a one paragraph overview of a business problem you would like to address
- List three objectives, from a business perspective that an analytics-based solution would address
- List three requirements, from a leadership perspective that will lead to a successful analytics-based solution
- Provide a one paragraph summary connecting the business problem to a possible data mining solution
Please note that this assignment should be no longer than the equivalent of one double spaced page. You must be succinct. Please refer to the attached paper for assistance in developing a problem statement.
Part 2
Leading the Effort to Understand the Business Problem and the Data Required to Address the Solution
From the problem definition statement opportunity outlined in Part 1, start to develop a basic analytics program for phase one (business understanding) and phase two (data understanding) for the new business venture using the six phase CRISP-DM model. (Refer to user-story approach and conceptual architecture sketch in Chapter 4 of Agile Analytics (Collier, 2011).
Please produce no more than two pages including the rough architecture sketch. Consider Part 2 to be no more than an indication of your early thoughts on the analytics program with emphasis on relating the problem to be addressed in the new venture to your business understanding and data requirements. Remember, this course focuses on leadership and leading the analytics-based program to address business problems and not as much on project management and technology.
