Questionnaire – Option 2: Homeless men and health care service
$5.00The learning objective of this assignment is to practice designing a structured survey versus an unstructured interview. These are different. For guidance on structured survey questions, please see pages 189-193 and 196-200 of your text. For guidance on interview questions, please see pages 190-191 and 194-196 of your text.
There are two parts to this assignment. You must complete the first part in order to have access to the second part.
Prepare and submit your response (see topic below for more guidance).
Complete two peer reviews . The peer reviews will be automatically assigned to you as soon as the due date for submission has passed – so these should be completed between Thursday and Saturday. Again, if you do not complete the first part you will not have access to the peer review process. Unlike our other peer review assignments, you will NOT be resubmitting again for instructor review so do your BEST JOB the first time around.
TopicSubmission
This week you will be designing both a: 1) five question survey AND 2) five interview questions.
You have two options to complete this assignment.
Option 1: The first option is that you develop the survey versus interview questions around your research topic of interest (i.e., on the topic for which you completed your problem statement and literature review). Please prepare and submit:
Five questions and a response scale for each question that would be administered as a survey to your study participants.
Five open-ended interview questions. These would be administered during an interview or discussion with your study participants. Remember that these should not be framed as “yes” or “no” questions. If you do not know how to do this, please revisit last week and this week’s learning modules, as well as chapters 7 and 8 of your text.
– OR –Option 2: If you do not want to use your research topic of interest, you may use the following scenario instead to develop the survey versus interview questions. The topic is homeless men and health care services. More specifically, you are trying to gather information on how they access health care services; the barriers to accessing health care services; and the quality of the services they receive. Please prepare and submit:
Five questions and a response scale for each that would be administered as a survey to a homeless man.
Five open-ended interview questions. These would be administered during an interview or discussion with a homeless man. Remember that these should not be framed as “yes” or “no” questions. If you do not know how to do this, please revisit last week and this week’s learning modules, as well as chapters 7 and 8 of your text.Report on making the facility a good place
$40.00Background:
You are a new healthcare administrator having just graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in HSA. Your first job is the director of a 250 bed skilled nursing facility located in Orlando, Fl. You are really excited about your first job as a healthcare administrator and show up early on your first day. When you arrive you find the facility in complete disarray, phones are ringing, patients call buttons are going unanswered, and trash cans are overflowing. You find very few of the night shift employees are still there, those employees still in the building appear to be napping on the job.
After you help answer the phones and direct clinical staff to assist patients, you finally make it into your office where you realize that the issues do not stop on the patient care floor! Bills are unpaid, accreditation requirements are unmet, and nine notices from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) are lying unopened on the desk, and you find a resignation on the desk from your administrative assistant. It is obvious that you have just walked into a disaster area.
Just then your phone rings and on the other end of the line your boss, the corporate VP for Operations, she sounds very angry. She explains that she just got a report on your facility and you are over budget, your vacancy rates are up, your predecessor did not submit any input to the capital budget process which was due two weeks ago, several employees have complained about the facility and one even suggested that she is being sexually harassed by her supervisor, in a nut shell your facility is falling apart at the seams. You try to explain that you just got to the job but she doesn’t want to hear it, instead she wants to meet with you in two weeks to hear how you are going to fix this and what progress you have made in a two week’s time.
What are you going to do? Make sure that you include your immediate response (what you have done during the first and second week), your immediate plans short term plans, your intermediate plans, and your long term goals. Prepare the report that you will present to your boss that walks her through the steps you have already taken and that you will take in the short, intermediate and long run to bring this facility back to life. Be creative about your facility and the issues that you are confronting.
Tips:
- Use theories from the book and other sources as necessary
- Cite using APA style:
- List references in APA at the end
- Make sure that you address all parts of the question and address all issues in depth, don’t skip over issues addressed above
- Follow assignment guidelines!
- Check all spelling & grammar (it sometimes help to read your presentation aloud)
I want you all to approach this case study assignment from a professional presentation view point.
By that I mean you should have your report in a format that is easy for your “new boss” to read/understand/and assess your potential for continuation in the job.
What I want to see is a power point presentation that lays out your initial reaction/observations/actions and then presents your goals and action steps (and metrics) for making the facility a good place to be a patient, to work and for making the facility profitable.BE SURE TO READ GUIDANCE IN THE SYLLABUS CAREFULLY
You will need to develop a tactical plan and execution plan for the immediate response and a Strategic Plan to turn the organization around. Think Product, process, metrics, and outcome.
Remember that I will grade this as if I were your new boss… I will be deciding if I am going to keep you in your position, and give you the resources and latitude to execute your plan (that will be an A for a great plan and great confidence or B for a good plan but one I have some concerns about), immediately fire you because I do not have any confidence you or your plan and do not believe you have shown that you have the managerial and leadership skills, knowledge, and planning ability to be successful (this will be a F), or send you help from my team (this is never a good thing, help from above is a statement that your supervisors don’t have faith in your plan or ability to execute it, but are not ready to just fire you and pick another leader), (this will result in a C for a plan I consider workable but needs more specifics to be successful and I will assign a more senior leader to be your consultant in the execution, or D for a plan that is marginal but could work, but I think the corporation will be better served with someone else on site, overseeing the tactical actions and strategic planning and execution to be successful). The grades I will assign are as follows: 200 points for an A, 170 points for a B, 150 points for a C, 125 points for a D, and 100 points or less for an F.This assignment is worth 20% of your grade, so you should plan to invest 12 to 20 hours in the process of researching, developing, presenting and completing the assignment.
The assignment is also a dry run for something that is likely to happen to you in the first two years of your employment as a healthcare manager. Nearly every new manager is faced with taking over from a failing manager. You should see this as a real opportunity, not a threat. On a personal note, I always found that going in behind a manager who had failed or taking over a troubled organization was a great position and an outstanding career opportunity. There is only one way to go and even small improvements in the short run are likely to make you a hero in the eyes of your leaders.Assignment Guidelines:
I want to see is a power point presentation
Cover page that includes name, class and topic of presentation.
Final page with credits, cite appropriately and list references
Typed in Times New Roman with a minimum of 12 point font, you may use bold but no italic. Larger fonts are fine … but nothing smaller than 12 for any part of the slides.
No animation or double click formats, let the slide present in one click only.
Professional looking backgrounds, no dark colors or busy backgrounds. Don’t need pictures that add nothing to the message. This is a professional presentation to your boss. Don’t let him or her think you are not very serious about your presentation. Your job and ultimately your career depend on it.
This should be an impressive and informative presentation that will gain you the trust and confidence of your new boss that you have the planning, personnel, financial, budgeting, leadership and managerial skills to be successful and progress in the organization.
There is no page limit but follow the rule, long enough to cover the subject and short enough to still be interesting… in short, tell me what time it is, don’t tell me how to build a watch.HSA 4180; Case Study #4 Medical Group Management Association

Literature Review on Hypertension
$30.00Literature Review: Peer Review
OverviewThis is a two-step assignment related to preparing a literature review for a research proposal. In the first step, you will complete a literature review associated with the problem statement you developed for Assignment #2B: Problem Statement. The first draft of the literature review will be peer-reviewed by one of your classmates. In the second step, you will revise your literature review based on the peer review comments and submit a final draft to the instructor for grading.
The learning objectives of this assignment are to:
- 1) enable you to think critically about a health-related issue of interest;
- 2) learn how to conduct and prepare a literature review based upon academic resources; and
- 3) practice expressing your ideas in a clear and concise manner.
Topic
In this course we will practice, in a step-by-step manner, several key components of designing a research proposal. We will not actually conduct the research. The second step in this process will be to create a literature review, based upon the problem statement and associated research questions and hypotheses you previously submitted with Assignment #2B: Problem Statement.
For this assignment, you will prepare a five-page document. The literature review should provide more support for your problem statement and related research questions/hypotheses. It is essentially a summary of key research (or lack of research) related to your research issue of interest. The literature review should have at least 6 academic citations. In addition to lecture, I strongly recommend that you review the helpful tips on page 67-70 of your text. Please also make sure to review the Assignment #3A & B: Literature Review Discussion Board which will provide useful clarifying information on this assignment.
The peer review process will begin after the date for submission has passed. Please check the syllabus and course calendar so that you are aware of due dates. The peer review process requires that you: 1) Complete the grading rubric and 2) Provide substantive comments either within the grading rubric or via Crocodoc. The comments must be specific regarding where errors occur and why points are being deducted. Comprehensive comments SHOULD NOT be made via the “Add a Comment” option. The peer review process is extremely important – you are not doing your classmates any favors by “going easy” on them. Provide constructive feedback about how they can improve their work. A key point of the peer review is for you to help one another improve your work before it is submitted for final grading by the instructor.

Health Care Minicases: You are a new administrator at Jonestown Medical Center…
$10.00Respond to three of the scenarios below. Please label your mini-cases. Your response is to be in a word document format( doc. or docx. only). Cover all of the issues in each case you choose and use good writing and presentation techniques and address the issue(s) in detail. Answer in bullet format where possible.
You are a new administrator at Jonestown Medical Center. You receive a telephone call from the nurse manager of the emergency room. Dr. Smith, an emergency room physician who is an employee of your hospital, has just reported for duty. The nurse manager suspects that Dr. Smith is intoxicated. What do you do?
You are the practice manager of Docs R Us, Ltd., a large multi-specialty medical practice employing over 100 physicians. You are conducting a random review of billing for doctors in the practice and you discover that one of the internists in your group who treats mostly Medicare recipients has been checking off the wrong code for her procedures on the billing form. The procedures on the patient record do not match the billing form codes. You pull up her files for the past 3 months and find a pattern of up-coding. When you meet with her to review this miscoding, she becomes very defensive and angry. What do you do?
You are the assistant director of the hospital medical staff office at The Rural Outreach Community Hospital in a tiny town in Arkansas. It is your job to verify physician credentials for staff privileges. Your hospital receives an application from a physician for staff privileges. On his application it states that he graduated from medical school in El Salvador. When you call to verify this, you are told that the medical school burned down 2 years ago and all the records were destroyed. What do you do?
You are the CEO of Sleepy Hollow Retirement Community and Nursing Center. A resident’s family has come to you to complain that their loved one, who is on pain medication, is in intolerable pain. Her medications appear not to be working anymore. One of the family members states, “My 90-year-old mother saw the nurse put the pain medicine in her pocket.” What do you do?You are a new administrator at a hospital, well know for pulmonary medicine. The physicians in the ICU, the ER, and the Department of Pulmonary Medicine have demanded to meet with you about the shortage of Respiratory Therapists. You stall them for 48 hours so you can gather data. What types of information will you need to collect to have an intelligent conversation with this powerful group of physicians?
An African American woman enters a healthcare facility where she is to receive an MRI of her spine. She has long hair in the style known as “locks”. She is taken to white male MRI Technician for a pre-procedure interview. He briefly describes the procedure and tells her she will have to remove all metal objects such as hair pins and jewelry. He also stays she should remove her hair for the process. The woman tells him that her hair is her own and cannot be removed. He responds stating that he has served many black women who have weaves and other false hair held in with pins and he is just being cautious. The woman is highly insulted and asks to speak to the administrator on duty. That is you, what do you do?
This is an exercise in your management abilities and knowledge. It should come from your own thoughts. References are not required. Cover each situation thoroughly.2 Pages
